Jemamae A. Ovalo won the coveted Mutya ng Magpet title besting seven other young ladies during the pageant night held at the Municipal Gymnasium August 11. Aside from being crowned as Mutya ng Magpet, Ovalo was also adjudged Best in Tahiti Attire.
Ovalo, a fourth year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science student of Notre Dame of Kidapawan College taking up and sponsored by the Federation of Sangguniang Kabataan in Magpet, brought home a total cash prize of 10 thousand pesos. Cheryl E. Cao, a graduating student of Mass Communication at the University of Mindanao in Davao City and sponsored by the Cotabato Electric Cooperative (COTELCO), was 1st runner up. She took home 8 thousand pesos cash. Sangguniang Bayan candidate Mary Joy Belandres was 2nd runner-up winning 6 thousand pesos cash, while Association of Barangay Captains bet Czarrahmae D. Mainar was 3rd runner-up earning a cash prize of 4 thousand pesos. Joan C. Fajarito of Barangay Binay rounded out Ovalo’s court with her 4th runner-up finish. She got 3 thousand pesos cash. Cao was adjudged as Best in Talent and Best in Swimwear while Belandres was declared Best in Gown, Miss Gandang Chanelle and Miss Dreamvet. Named Best in Casual attire, Miss Avon and Miss Natasha was Mainar, and Best in Interview was Fajarito, a fourth year student of Magpet National High School. Makilala Multi-Purpose Cooperative also gave a special award to Mary Ann Belarmino while Elly Joy Calamba was awarded as Miss Hairstreak Beauty. This year's pageant had among its judges Lt Col Dario C. Bucawit of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; Joylyn B. Rualo, owner of JC Complex; Genaro R. Andres, Director of Student Affairs in Central Mindanao Colleges, and Emee Recuerdo Martinez, a loan specialist of One Network Bank and reigning Mutya ng Kidapawan. The panel was chaired by Christine Yarra Vaquilar, a clinical instructor at University of Southern Mindanao and former Bb. Cotabato. (Crisaldy Ganad Villasand) |
